A guest-ready home does not require every cupboard

Focus a pre-visit cleaning request on the rooms, surfaces, and practical comforts your guests will actually use.

Follow the guest's route

Imagine the visit from the front door onward. Where will coats go? Which bathroom will guests use? Where will people sit, eat, and set down a glass? That route is a useful map for a focused cleaning request. It brings attention to the parts of the home that support the occasion.

The purpose is welcome, not a performance of perfection. A comfortable seat and a ready bathroom often matter more to the evening than a storage cupboard that no visitor will open.

Make the bathroom easy to use

Ask for the agreed cleaning of the guest bathroom's accessible surfaces and fixtures. Separately, decide where fresh hand towels and everyday supplies will go. Cleaning and restocking are distinct tasks; specify any finishing touches you want considered rather than assuming they are included.

Move personal items you prefer guests not to see. A small basket can gather your own belongings temporarily without forcing a complete reorganization. Keep medications, private documents, and valuables in their normal secure places instead of using the arrival of visitors as a reason to rush decisions.

Give seating and serving areas a purpose

Dining tables and side tables are often used for several things during the week. Before service, decide which items belong elsewhere and which should remain. If you want sorting help, make that part of the request. Cleaning beneath a pile and deciding the future of that pile are different jobs.

Describe upholstered furniture, delicate tables, and any pet hair priorities. Specific fabric treatment or stain removal needs separate confirmation. A tidy arrangement cannot promise that every mark, worn patch, or old stain will disappear.

Work backward from the occasion

Include the actual event date, your preparation schedule, and whether food preparation will happen before or after cleaning. The most useful window may be after major cooking but before final table setting. For overnight guests, add the room they will use and clarify whether bed making or linen changes are requested.

If the event is soon, submit a focused request with your essential rooms. Urgency helps explain priorities; it does not turn an inquiry into a confirmed booking. A narrower scope can still be meaningful if availability allows.

Leave yourself space to enjoy it

Choose a finishing point. Once the agreed spaces are ready, the rest of the evening can belong to the people arriving. A lived-in home can be generous and elegant without looking untouched. Your guests are visiting you, not conducting a catalog inspection.

Use the Partners in Grime service request form to describe the occasion, your town, the areas guests will use, and your deadline. Each visit is quoted individually. We can then discuss a scope shaped around the welcome you want to create, with optional details clearly identified.
